In 2005-2006 academic year, Assistant Professor Boonsong Chaisingkananont at Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts, Silpakorn University, has set an open-ended examination question saying "Do you think the institution of Monarchy is necessary in the Thai society and how it can be adjusted to fit in the democratic society today?". Such action was accused by her colleagues of defaming the monarchy. After the accusation, the inquiry officers of Nakorn Pathom Police Station has requested the faculty to submit the students' answer sheets too but Assitant Professor Boonsong refused to do so as she saw it violating students' rights. In the end, the police decided not to file the case.
